I decided I had to read this book, the first in the Twilight series, because of the pop culture phenomenon it had become. It is an easy, quick read, clearly targeted for the YA reader. It's a classic story with a dangerous twist---Juliet finds out Romeo is a vampire, albeit an incredibly mature, restrained and cultured one. It's a fresh take on the vampire genre, and the romance and attraction between the two lead characters is undeniable and well-wrought. I enjoyed it and will go on to read the rest of the series. I cannot say it's classic literature, but it is a fun read.
