I am not especially interested in ballet, but I did read to my benefit the introduction and the ruminative last chapter, 'The Masters and Dead and Gone.' She is knowledgeable, has a nice writing style, and tells it like it is (today 'the ballet repetoire is notoriously thin'). These two chapters would work well as collateral reading by a group of interested students for a high school (or junior high) history class that emphasizes reading. If interested, they could go on to each choose a chapter and share it with the others in the group.
