As I am not the intended audience for this book, I asked my teen daughter to read it and give me her thoughts. Here are her thoughts:
âThe metaphorical part of this story was deep and it made me think about what God has to deal with with humans and their sin. The main characters were realistic. I learned a bit about the Bible and Jesus from the Bible studies included. Overall it was a good story. â
My thoughts: At first I thought the author was âhead-hopping' which means that the point of view bounces between characters. It may have been that the author was using a technique known as omniscient narrator. Basically the narrator knows all of the characters thoughts and feelings. I found this a little distracting and it kept me from connecting with the current time characters. Having said that, I really enjoyed the allegorical part about the dragons. It was that part of the story that kept me turning the pages of this book.
I think that the Bible study portion was thought provoking and would probably be good to do in a youth group setting. 3 1/2 stars
