I found the details of a geisha's life and feelings to be very moving and beautifully expressed. However, I found the events leading to the ending to be totally disappointing, disgusting, and unrepresentative of the protagonists previous behavior throughout the book. I'm afraid that this ruined my good opinion of the book.
