Bluff City is a silver-mining town with plenty of hardworking citizens to exploit, and two men mean to do just that. Harve Baker, the wealthiest man in the territory, offers irresistible vices to anyone able to afford them. Outlaw Jesse Stark leads a gang of desperadoes on a violent spree of robberies, but he manages to stay one step ahead of the law. When Clay Adams rides into town it isn't long before he has a score to settle with both of them...

The above blurb really doesn't hint at the depths of this novel, true revenge is part of the plot as is the age old struggle of man and woman trying to understand each other, but it's the deeper question of whether a person can change who they are if they try hard enough; can they bury their past or will it rise up again and destroy all they've worked hard to change?

As to be expected from a story by David Robbins (writing as Ralph Compton) this tale moves along at great pace making for a difficult to put down book. The characters are all believable and the twists and turns of the plot make for an enthralling read.

And was the change possible? That's an answer you'll have to find out for yourself by reading this book that should appeal to all western fans everywhere.
