This book was a gem of a short novel. Sometimes the Harlequin Historical series books are excellent, and ever since "A Rose For Major Flint" I've been following this author.
The hero is Anglo-Indian, and has just returned to England after being born and raised in India. The heroine is illegitimate, but accepted on the fringes of "Ton" society. It's a secret that she runs a shop for a living, or she'd be even more ostracized.
The characters, including some great secondary characters, the conflicts that got in the way of their HEA, and the family relationships of both the H and h were all excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyable with just enough angst to keep me turning the pages! Apparently there is an earlier book about the hero's parents which I will now seek out.
