Dr. Rennie Newton is a surgeon serving jury duty. The trial is of a notorious hit man, Ricky Lozada. Rennie and the other jurors find Lozada not guilty, and in his twisted mind, he sees this as a connection between he and Rennie. Pretty soon one of Rennie's professional rivals is found murdered, and she becomes the prime suspect. Lozada's growing obsession with Rennie is thrown into more dangerous territory when a connection forms between her and Wick Threadgill, the detective who is pursuing Lozada for reasons of his own.
