I cant resist a Chandler book. This one begins with a quaint treatise on detective writers. No Marlowe in the four representative stories, but all have the charm and sarcastic wit of his best-known character. And, you have to love his similes. Here is murder/crime in a jugular vein almost on a par with Damon Runyon.
