Book Review of Ariel: The Restored Edition: A Facsimile of Plath's Manuscript, Reinstating Her Original Selection and Arrangement (P.S.)

reviewed on + 101 more book reviews

This is referred to as the "restored edition" because the original manuscript put together by Ted Hughes was not complete. Hw and why Hughes chose to leave out certain poems and then include others is a mystery. In this powerful collection you will find Plath at her best. For anyone versed in 20th century poetry you can see how Plath influenced the path of contemporary poetry. Her voice is painful and her words are moving as she confesses to the reader of her personal life. I challenge you to find a poet more original in style and true to herself.
