This is a large book to undertake, about 642 in hard cover and 909 in paperback. And really reader why would you pick up a book of this volume if you were not guaranteed a good time for your hours of reading? Who is this book written for?

If you like fast, reads, whitty dialogue, steamy sex scenes, and a chic lit happy ending, this book is not for you.

If you like history, travel, epic stories, and books written in detail, then you will love this book.
I decided that I would give this book about 100 pages. Before I got to that agreed upon 100 pages, I had to come back to these reviews, to help me understand what others had found while reading this book.

You will find that some hated it; some loved it. Once I got past about page 120 in the HC, I was knew I wanted to read more. It also went faster after the first 100 pages. I kinda saw it as a long yarn being told before me piece by piece. I had to be patient and not rush the story teller.

In this story, we find many eras the 1930s, the 1950s and the 1970s. Often the older stories are told through letters that have been saved. So we hear about Rossi experiences in the 30s throughout. Then we hear about Paul and Helen trying to find Rossi in the 1950s, as he just disappeared one night. Paul tells about his experiences in the 1950s to his daughter in the 70s, as he tries to explain about her mothers death, when she was just a baby. Then the dad, Paul takes off and the daughter is again searching for clues. It all comes together, many questions are answered, but sorry it isnt all tied up in a pink little bow.

Is this the kinda book that interests you? Dont worry if isnt, move on to other pursuits, but if you want to experience a moving well written story, and you have the patience to see it to the end, you really wont be sorry you endured.
