Every time I read a new Sue Grafton Kinsey Millhone series book, I'm scared it's going to fall into the same pattern that most series books (and movies) do, the same plot and characters over and over again, but I'm always pleasantly surprised. You'd think that by now, with letter "X," I'd know better. Of course there are your usual characters that we've grown to love: Kinsey, of course, who is an independent, strong, and sometimes funny woman out to just do her PI job. And then there's her kind and handy landlord and neighbor who doesn't seem to age. But this time Kinsey is thrown into several plots and while you might get worried that you'll lose what's going on, the reader is able to keep pace right along with Kinsey. Always resourceful, Kinsey gets her man...or woman.
