After reading the first book of this series, I was reluctant to try the next book, but I wasn't going to abandon a series based on one book, so I read "A Rake's Vow". I tried.....I really did, but it was a struggle for me to get through this book. There is really no need to give some type of synopsis of this book, for if you read the first one, you have the so-called romance plot already. The mystery within the book was fine and well written, but Patience, whom Rake has set out to conquer, is given little backbone. In the words of my 17 year old daughter, "What is wrong with these women?", and she is a huge romantic.
If you like books with strong, manipulative and, of course, more handsome than the norm men along with women who vow to not be taken advantage of, but quickly succumb, then this series is for you. As for me, I am fairly sure I am done. The rest of the Cynster men will have to stalk their chosen mates without me.
