Vanessa Price has vowed to live her life to the fullest. She has a 50/50 chance of getting ALS, a disease that killed her sister and contributed to her mother's death. Vanessa dumped her old job and became a successful travel vlogger on Youtube while drumming up awareness of the disease. But right now her life is a bit of a mess. Her father is a hoarder. Her brother is a freeloader. And her sister dropped off her baby and never came back to get her. At her wits end when baby Grace will not stop crying, Vanessa's next door neighbor Adrian Copeland comes to the rescue. The handsome attorney volunteers to watch Grace while Vanessa takes a break. When she returns, he has managed to rock the baby to sleep. Even though Vanessa and Adrian are polar opposites, they manage to become good friends...and more.
Abby Jimenez is a new author for me. I totally enjoyed this book and will be reading more from her. This was a fun book with some serious subject matter (mental illness, addiction, grief) handled well. I loved both Adrian and Vanessa. They complimented each other and helped each other deal with their crazy families. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that Vanessa would not go to a doctor to see if the symptoms she was having could be caused by something other than ALS. She put herself through a lot of stress by ignoring what was going on.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Zachary Webber and Christine Lakin. They breathed life into these characters with their outstanding narration. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
