The place - Clanton, Mississippi. "The life of a ten-year old black girl is shattered by a brutal rape and torturous assault by two drunken and remorseless young white men. The mostly white town reacts with shock and horror at the inhuman crime. Until her father, Carl Lee Hailey gets his hands on an M-16 assault rifle - and takes justice into his own outraged hands by blowing the two men away!". "For ten days, as burning crosses and the crack of sniper fire spread through the streets of Clanton, the nation sits spellbound as young defense attorney Jake Brigance struggles to save his clients life..." I'll leave it to you, the reader, to determine if you think the outcome was correct or not - whatever your decision, I'm sure you'll find it satisfying! I promised my wife I would read this book, along with "The Firm" because she gave them to me for Xmas one year. Besides, she IS a lawyer, and I'm sure she could come up with some verbal agreement breach, if I didn't read them. In the end, I'm glad I did! Thanks for lookin'
