If you're tired of the Top 100 names, if you want to name your child a name that will serve him/her well as a child and as an adult, if you want a name that's distinguished and uncommon...check out this book. Yes, the "stuffy" names like Nigel and Alastair are included, but also such charming names as Aemelia, Clementine, Clancy, and Petra.

This book is great in that it's not your typical baby-name dictionary book. Instead of just telling you what the name means (who really cares, anyway?), it tells the image the name projects. For example, if you want a sophisticated name for your daughter, try Geraldine. If you want a fun one, try Poppy. The lists are not exhaustive, but are very helpful. The book helped me name my two children and I'm sure they're names that are classic, and they will definitely be the only Beatrice and Malcolm in their classes!
