The website summary is incorrect. The Moth is one of Catherine Cookson's best historical novels. Set in the years leading up to WWI, Cookson explores the changing attitudes toward the British class system. A skilled carpenter working as a laborer and a 'ladyship' cumbered with a failing estate fall in love when faced with co-existing need. Think of the old song "If I were a carpenter and you were a lady, would you marry me anyway?"
