This book is very fast paced and high suspense. The characters are well written to the point that you can visualize them. The main character, Jack Reacher, is at times ruthless, but appears to be a man who has deliberately chosen his current life. The author pulls you into this complex character and leaves you wanting to know more about Reacher - more specifics about his past, his seeming champion of the "underdog" or for undoing what is wrong. He seems to be a modern day metaphor for the old gunslinger casually wandering into town, encountering the bad guys and feeling obligated to ridding the town of their influence. My intent is to read the Reacher series in order because I think Lee Child will be developing this character through each book. Lee Child writes good narrative and keeps the dialogue clean and crisp. It is easy to see this novel as a movie - it's that vivid!
