I bought both this book and the sequel thinking it was going to be M/M erotica. While the main character is gay, there are NO SEX SCENES in the entire book. That being said, the story itself was very well written. I was actually very impressed by Andrea Speed's writing, style, and vocabulary. So many books are written on such a low level that it's refreshing to find one that actually assumes its reader is intelligent.

There are 2 "books" or stories in this book, and they both are about the same couple and the problems they face both professionally and personally. Roan is the main character, a private investigator who shifts into a lion due to a virus he inherited at birth. His business partner and lover Paris shifts into a tiger due to the virus he got while in college. While the two struggle to figure out murders and other "infected" or "kitty" crimes, they are also dealing with changes personally due to their own personal infections. Roan seems to be keeping more lion traits as time passes, even in human form, while Paris' tiger strain of infection threatens to cut his life short as the tiger strain is the most dangerous strain of infection and hardest on the human body.

Conclusion--DON'T buy this book if you are looking for erotica, but DO get this book if you want a well-written crime/mystery story with gay leading characters. I, personally, will be looking forward to reading the sequel Infected: Bloodlines and any other books Andrea Speed has written.
