A short, sweet picture book about a day (or actually a night) in the life of Ako and his mother, who are a type of lemur known as the Aye-Aye, found only on the island of Madagascar. During their nighttime excursions, Ako and his mother hunt for their favorite types of food, encounter other types of lemurs, as well as a group of humans, who come from around the world in the hopes of seeing an Aye-Aye. Ako even gets in a little time to play, which is what he really wants to do. At the end, they return home to their nest in the trees to curl up and sleep through the day as the sun begins to rise.

Great for the 5-9 range, with a light-hearted story, some very basic information about lemurs-although the book doesn't really touch on their endangered status-and wonderful watercolor illustrations.
