I struggled with how to rate this one. I almost gave it 4.5 but in the end, there was just too much bad stuff happening to the leads. I mean, come on, I want some good stuff sprinkled in there too.

How many times can one man get injured? The ending felt rushed given all that went on in the 280 pages before. But the thing that bothered me the most was how the hero blantantly broke his ankle, and then it was hardly mentioned for 150 pages. He was walking on it, had an "even" gait several times. No way!

Yes, it was an emotional read that kept my attention but I didn't feel satisfied when I finished it because there hadn't been enough pleasurable things happening to and with the main characters. I read for pleasure and this book left me feeling sad. I do recommend the two that came before it. Montana Wife and Rocky Mountain Man.
