First Mariah Stewart book I've read...It's a pretty good read, though not as good as I'd expected/hoped.

The first half was mostly from the Hero's point of view, but it evened out in the second half of the book.
the Main characters weren't bad, but not really memorable either. We don't really get any insight in their characters though... not really. I would have preferred to have gotten inside their heads more, we get a little bit of personal history, but we don't really get any in depth insight on their rationales for why they act like they do. They sort of just...exist.

The romance is present, but it's pretty tame....no melodrama, no misunderstandings, no blow ups, no crazy exes, no jealousy...it's sort of just.... there...a change of pace from romantic suspenses I've read.

As for the suspense/mystery ( I don't consider it a "thriller")....the story was interesting and intriguing (didn't have any trouble finishing it) but again pretty tame. I was definitely surprised by who the bad guy was, and a little disappointed....It felt like a cop out really.

Overall not a horrible book, a little slow though...

I'd say it's a good book, with an intriguing story that will keep you reading, on a lazy day, so long as you're not looking for a ton of fast action or a hot and heavy romance.
