Although not my favorite book by this author, it was still so beautifully written that it's hard not to be drawn into the story. A writer is haunted by the murder of his son seven years ago. He meets a retired cop who's obsessed with the case of a woman who disappeared 20 years ago. It's a story within a story and the author weaves them together brilliantly. It's more character driven and slow moving, with a slight supernatural element. It's dark and eerie with eloquent language. It may not appeal to some, but the way this guy writes he could make the phone book interesting to me....
