Cal woke up on a beach with amnesia and four large ape/spider monsters full of bullets. He gets a job at the local diner where Niko and Robin find him waiting tables wearing a frilly gingham apron. As he doesn't recognize them, Niko knocks him out and they head back to New York.
Niko is torn as this Cal is happy as his Auphe half is dormant. He wants Cal to be happy but he misses his brother Cal.
Niko even lies and schemes to try to keep the happy Cal. As Cal begins to remember he can see that this Niko is not going to be able to survive the dangers of their world.
Great read. Funny, snarky and dangerous, Thurman's writing keeps us wanting more.
