This book is not to be missed, horror/dark fantasy fans. Editor Hartwell has compiled a superb collection that approaches superlative.

These offerings in form and execution transcend their limited genre; most are simply excellent short fiction sure to delight in special ways.

Especially great writing are King's "The Reach" ( yes, that Stephen King ); "Evening Primrose"; "The Ash Tree"; "There's a Long, Long Trail A-Winding";"The Summer People"; "The Whimper of Whipped Dogs"; "Mr. Justice Harbottle"; "The Autopsy" ( worth reading this book for this alone ); "Sticks"; "Larger Than Oneself".

Those not mentioned all have their own strengths and are good reads.

This collection contains many stories that leave questions to be considered upon completion. Fascinating.
