Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World

This is a history book, not historical fiction. It is the true story of Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland who in 1890 both sailed around the world. Bly leaving from New York and travelling east to England and Bisland leaving New York the same day and travelling by train west to San Francisco. This book chronicles their race around the world to see who would arrive back in New York first. Lots and lots of historical detail that was interesting but sometimes tedious reading: the steamship and railway systems, British imperialism, history of various countries they travelled through, etc. It was ok - learned about Bly and Bisland who I knew nothing about but did read more like a textbook at times.
