Wow. I read the reviews here and ordered the book. After an obligatory wait list delay, it showed up. I read it immediately. It is unlike anything I've ever read before. While the structure, prose, and flow are like a traditional cozy mystery, there are vampires and other supernatural things going on. Sookie Stackhouse, the main character, for instance, can read minds. (She refers to it as her "disability.")

I'm listing the book without saving it for my wife to read--as I do with most mysteries--because of some rather explicit sexual activity. Vampires, it seems, are unusual folks with some rather distressing habits.

If you can suspend your disbelief for vampires and such and can work through some sexual low-jinks (I prefer high-jinks; but some of this is definitely low), then read this book. What an experience!
