Douglas Clayborne is the hero in this episode; he has traveled to the farm where he has purchased an Arabian stallion. Instead, he finds a feisty widow with a gun who is in terrible danger from neighboring rancher Boyle, who wants Isabel Grant's land and her person (for his wife). The local citizens have been threatened by the villain so that they are afraid to help Isabel. Now that she is ready to deliver her baby, there is no one to help but Douglas.
After the delivery, the baby is in such fragile condition that Isabel and Douglas are stuck on the farm until the baby gets stronger. This is a short novella that is interesting and moves fast. An enjoyable read.
