From the Inside Cover: AFTER THE MARRIAGE VOWS: As the carriage rolled away from the chapel, Cicely endeavored to set matters straight with the man who was now legally her lord and master.

"I am my own person, Ravenwood, and I should take a very dim view of it if you were to attempt to demand subservience from me. I will go my own way. As...as you will go yours, of course."

"Will I?" Ravenwood sounded surprised.

"I am more than seven, sir. I know how married men conduct their affairs," Cicely said. "I am quite prepared to accept an opera dancer or--a ladybird or Cytherean, sir."

Ravenwood cocked his head a little to one side, but Cicely could not read his expression."Am I...ah...to assume that I shall be expected to display equal tolerance toward similar pursuite on your part?"

"Of course," Cicely respnded calmly, though she could not mask the blush rising to her cheeks at the very idea.

Pretty good book. H/H are cousins that have not seen each other in a long time. She remembers him as lanky and ineffectual. But he returns a man after serving in the army.
He was approached by her father earlier for her hand, but he insisted she have a Season. While she is under the misapprehension that it is a marriage of convenience, to him it is a love match, and he intends to wait for her to realize it.
