Another good entry in the Michael Bennett saga. In this one, an assassin has eyes on the newly-elected President. The FBI has a tip that the assassination attempt will be at the behest of Russia and its President Putin. Bennett is teamed up with the Feds to try to stop the killing but will they be able to thwart a well-planned attempt? The book has some good twists and false leads including originally focusing on a husband and wife who took out an ecstasy drug manufacturer who was also a college chemistry professor (shades of Breaking Bad?). But are they the assassins out to kill the president? There is also a sub-plot in the story relating to Mike's 16-year old son, Brian and his involvement with a young athlete who is temporarily living with the Bennetts and who somehow got involved with a bad drug dealer. However, other than that, the book does not give too much other information about the Bennett clan and Mike's relationship with Mary Catherine, the live-in nanny. They're still in love but when will the wedding happen??? But overall, the book has a lot of action and was a fast read as usual. It was a little ironic, however, that the implication in the book is that Putin is out to kill the President because of his hard-line on Russia while in reality our new President Trump seems to be cozying up to Putin.
