I feel lucky to have gotten a chance to read this as soon as it came out. The topic of infidelity is such an interesting topic especially since women who say they will never cheat cannot judge another without really understanding the reasons behind it. This story proves close to life as I listen to many couples' stories about how their cheating started and there are two sides to the story. An affair is usually not about the affair as most partners think, but rather a symptom of a marriage that is broken somehow. Jane Green nails this beautifully with the starting out of Our main character Gabby who is feeling lost at 43. It isn't until another younger man takes an interest in her that she comes alive. She knows it is wrong but somehow this addiction of looking forward to his calls and emails makes her awaken inside and act impulsively. The relationship turns into a one night affair but the consequences of that unravel her marriage.
Up to that point I enjoyed the story.
