In An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England, we meet a man, who as a teen accidentally burned down the home of Emily Dickinson in Amherst, MA, killing two people. After serving 10 years in prison for this accident, Sam Pulsifer is released and moves back home and tries to continue on with his life.

Years leter, after going to college, meeting a girl, and having a family of his own, a copycat arsonist begins burning other literary landmarks of New England, putting Sam back into the spotlight. Sam takes it upon himself to try to solve the mystery.

Though I can see the whimsy in this book, it really just wasn't a very satisfying read for me; probably because I just don't have the specific sense of humor that this book is geared toward. It was quirky, there was some dark humor, but overall, it was just, meh. I found Sam to be more irritating than funny and looked forward to it all ending.
