To start, I'm a fan of Stevie's but not in the sense that I'm obsessed. I liked her music growing up from Fleetwood Mac and when she was solo. I also enjoyed watching her videos. I had heard she was a witch but more along the path of a white witch. That didn't bother me in the slightest. I grew up believing she was very independent and talented. Yet when I finished this book, I walked away with a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know if it was the way the book was written or if I just pulled things out and made a bigger deal then it was. The beginning of the book was pretty good but then as it goes along I start to like Stevie less and less. The fact that she did so many drugs was new to me and took away from the idea that she managed to stay away from that. The part that her dog was said to like cocaine as much as her was disturbing. In another part, the owner of a dog she didn't like much was mourning its death when Stevie made a crass and hurtful remark. That just sent me over the edge. Who would be so rude?? It also seemed like Nicks was sleeping around a lot and it seemed like a lot of the times it was with men who was already in relationships. She was quite the homewrecker but when it was done to her by her best friend, it is so horrible.
The writing of the book was not the best either. There were statements that were made without any further explanation which left you hanging and wondering why it was even put in the book. Lots of repetition too. The author seemed to forget that the information was already in there once.
Other than that, the ending was a bit better with Stevie trying to do something for her country and meeting with the wounded soldiers. I would have to say that I really wish I wouldn't have read this and gone on believing that she was as awesome as I thought.
