This book was broken up into 2 parts. There were chapters on Tony, the serial killer and chapters on Liza, the author. Thinking that these 2 characters would meld their way together throughout the book was a mistake on my part. In reality, we have a story on the life of Tony and his slow descent into being a murderer and then of the author and her poor relationship with her mother. There were a few moments when the author and Tony connected but the title and the story was misleading. It was more about the sad upbringing of a girl from a mother who didn't want her. Let's throw in some story of a serial killer to spice it up so people will read it and... Bam! you have your memoir of your terrible upbringing. Wasn't what I was expecting and got tired of the "woe is me" from the author.
