This is a truly remarkable debut novel. There are astounding similarities to John Irving, one of my favorite authors. It is the story of a very large girl, Truly, with an unusually beautiful sister. When they become orphaned, they are separated because the beautiful sister is claimed by a woman who wants only the attractive sister. Their fates are inextricably intertwined in a set of bizarre, mystical events that end in a riveting conclusion. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Tiffany Baker.
