To be Jewish during World War II proved to be a great challenge of survival for Gunther Goldschmidt and Rosemarie Gumpert. The two struggling musicians performed under unimaginable circumstances, falling in love while creating beautiful music in concert halls during Germany's Third Reich. Many Jewish musicians found themselves in a country bent on destroying them. Both Gunther and Rosemarie survive their war-time trials, unlike many of their family members. Both immigrate to America where they re-establish their lives. The book is written by son, Martin Goldsmith. A great read relating to World War II and the love of music made by Jewish musicians in Germany.
