I'll add my 2 cents here. I have read almost everything Terry Brooks has written. This book and the trilogy are among his best work. While the book is a prequel many of the topics he touches on are relevant today. His exploration of good, evil and human weakness are very thought provoking. These facts put it among all time my favorite books.
