I picked up this series on the recommendation of a friend. While I did find it enjoyable overall, I became really tired of the sheer amount of rape in this trilogy. I honestly came away feeling like the entire series was about rape. Don't get me wrong, it was a very interesting world, especially from an anthropological point of view. The magic system was also very interesting. If you can get over all of the rape then this is a great series.
