Good story about revenge and reincarnation but it was too long. It started strong. Halfway through the book I found myself skim reading most of it. For someone being 500 years old, John Nightwalker wasn't too smart about hiding the fact he was immortal and didn't age. I'm sure someone would have written some articles about him or tried to tie him to a lab. Alicia was not too smart on the uptake and for the most part acted like a spoiled brat. She had her good moments but I'm not sure they made up for her weak character. I did like the fact that she knows she was in over her head and didn't do anything stupid. There were a lot of pages dedicated to "Do I believe him?" despite the fact she has seen him heal from gunshot wounds. Needless to say it got old. It seems consistent with Sala's writing that her love scenes are rather tepid. Emotionally the book was rather flat. But with all the complaints, it was a decent story. "The Healer" was much better.
