Hot, sultry, small town in Florida. Too bad there's a serial killer on the loose. Teenage girls are disappearing from Torrance, FL, a small town near the entrance to Alligator Alley, and it's up to small town sheriff John Weber to find the killer before it's too late. There is lots of intrigue, set mainly at the local high school, where transplanted NY teacher Sandie Crosbie has to deal with her husband's affair with the local "loose woman" who lured him to Torrance off the internet, and her children Megan and Tim adjusting to life in suburbia. The twist: alternating excerpts from the killer's journal, which leave the reader guessing until the end to identify the killer.
