Maggie and Giles were one of the best-matched couples that I have come across in the genre. Maturity, intelligence, and respect for differing political interests during the early days of the Reform Movement guaranteed stimulating encounters sprinkled heavily with a sexual attraction that felt natural and easy. And I sure did enjoy their lusty affair! I was impressed, too, with how they each helped the other to reconsider seemingly insurmountable personal hurdles, proving that the right person can soften a hardened or scarred heart.

The political backdrop turned out to be an informative history lesson about Whigs and Tories (not at all off-putting) and a fresh and welcome change from the typical social ballroom setting. If you feel that mental connection and mutual respect are powerful aphrodisiacs, then you will not want to miss this 4-star read.
