A governess' borrowed carriage is held up by a highwayman. During the incident, the highwayman is wounded. He turns out to be a teenage boy. The governess (Alexandra) sets out to find his family, who turn out to be five recently orphaned children. Alexandra takes them under her wing and decides to help them find their uncle. The uncle (Richard) is engaged and his fiance doesn't care for the children. The usual romance plot ensues with the unlikable fiance and the five kids thrown into the mix.
