I've always loved reading a DP book and am not sure if the writing was so just bad or if the editing was nonexistent in this case. Was the book outlined by DP and someone else responsible for this hot mess? There was a constant retelling of facts, never been kissed, treatment by father, can't dance, that when telling the second time around (or third) was as if it had never even been mentioned before.
And when did it become okay for the hero to be a complete and total asshole. OK, he got his feelings hurt by his mommy (poor baby), when he was an asshole to her about her faith, he kicks his fiance to the curb cause she was a gold digger (kudos for this), and it seemed he pretty much shared sexual favors with his brother's lady friends all the time (Yuck!). Plus he was pretty much a bully to someone who had been terrorized her whole life even after she explained her father's brutal treatment of both her and her sister.
Not sure how this sad book received any 5 stars on Amazon. Seriously people did you really read it or just say nice things based of the other fabulous DP books you had read? So glad that this was a borrow from the library as if I'd even gotten it as a used book, I'd have felt totally ripped off. Usually, I just ignore a bad book but this time, I just has to pass on a buyer beware warning.
Finally, I'm a firm believer in the Thumper Rule when reviewing a book, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all ". So with that, "It's nice that it was a library book!"
