We've all heard of 12 degrees of separation, but I'm sure that neither Matthew nor Michael did in 14th century Cambridge, but it's this notion that ultimately helps them to piece together a series of strange deaths of seemingly disconnected people in order to solve several mysteries.

It's an unusually harsh winter, but with Christmas and the 12 days' Lord of Misrule tradition there are entertainments to enjoy, though unexpected visitors to Cambridge with ties to Matthew's past make it uncomfortable.

We're also challenged to examine the old adages: money can't buy happiness and money is the root of all evil. No good deed goes unpunished???????
