I bought this when I was part of a book club. It's well-written, all the characters are quirky and lovable, and, like Alexander McCall's books, written with a gentle humor.
However, I did dislike the constant references to Bible passages only by number that were apparently a largish part of "understanding" parts of the book. I don't read the bible, I'm not Christian, and it irritated the heck out of me. Of course, at the time, I didn't realize that the Mitford series was considered "Christian" fiction.
I guess Precious Ramotswe (of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency) is more my speed!
