Don't plan to read this book before you go to sleep; it will give you nightmares. It's a vivid oral-history-type account of the brutal policies of the Chinese against ethnic Tibetans, including monks, in Sichuan province. Be aware that although everything in the book is rigorously sourced, it's very one-sided. This is completely from the Tibetan point of view; it doesn't quote Chinese people or Chinese sources.
