Did the distraught Regina Holloway commit suicide or did the ghosts that haunt the former mansion of serial killer Madden C. Newton throw her from the balcony? To find this answer her husband, Senator David Holloway, asks Adam Harrison to put together a team to investigate. Adam approaches Jackson Crow to lead the paranormal crew because of Crows unique ability (which is revealed later in the story, I dont want to give any spoilers away). Angela Hawkins, Whitney Tremont, Jake Mallory, Jenna Duffy and Will Chan have been gathered for this investigation. Each member of the team brings strength and character to the story in their own way. Each one also has a unique ability they bring to the table and is revealed throughout the book with their back-story that was weaved into the story flawlessly.
The two main characters of book one of the Krewe of Hunters are Jackson and Angela. Their attraction to each other leads to a brimming romance that builds between them. What I thought was just going to be a story about a ghost hunt leads to a whole lot more. We dive into the rich history of New Orleans voodoo culture, corrupt politics, cult-like churches and, of course, haunted mansions. There were times that I felt there was too much outside investigation and not enough investigating of the house itself.
All in all, a good read and I will be looking forward to the next installment of this series.
