Okay, there is something very engaging about this story and the concept behind it. I will definitely give future books in the series a chance. But I will say that I lost interest in this particular book pretty quickly. The only thing that kept me going was the ancient Greek concept and wanting to know more about the zodiac warriors' brotherhood since the romance swiftly became a bore. This is the author's first novel and it reads a little formulaic and paint by numbers. The characterization often falls flat and the scenes are more disjointed than I'd have liked. The villainess Enyo is a Saturday morning cartoon villain (think Young Hercules)--complete with campiness, inept minions, and over-the-top (but never that explicit) sexual deviance. Sometimes there were little gems in the storytelling that left me interested in knowing more about this world and that is why I give this story a gracious 3 stars. This book isn't great but it isn't bad either. It's middle of the road. I think as the author matures the storytelling and characterization will mature as well. I just hope that by the time she gets to the Aquarius warrior her writing will be kick-ass!
