I have been a dispatcher for 12 years, and I loved this book! It is so true...one second you're reading a book,and the next second you are trying to get rescue to a person having a heart attack or firemen to a house burning down. Our department has only one dispatcher for deputies, rescue and fire, and it can get really hairy sometimes, but I wouldn't trade this job for anything except retirement! :D
Ms. Burau captured the life of dispatching just as it is, warts and all.
