Autobiographical memoir of one of my favorite authors. Raised in Africa, Smith loved reading and wanted to write adventure stories. With 2 failed marriages and working at a job he hated, he wrote a book in his spare time that went nowhere. With an editor's encouragement, he tried again, and as they say, the rest is history.
