Reporter Richard Kilmer is living a happy life with his fiancee Jen. After a car accident in which Jen is killed, Richard is forced to question whether his memories can be trusted or not, as none of his friends remember his fiancee and there is no physical evidence of their life together.
Determined to find out what really happened to Jen, he takes his story public by writing an article about his search for her. His life is threatened and others are killed as he tries to solve the medical mystery of whether his memories are real or not, and if not, how did they get in his head.
Though it at times feels implausible (like many thrillers), On Borrowed Time is a quick and immersing read. This engrossing thriller would be perfect for a short plane ride or day at the beach.
